Thunderstorm at Sea — Heavy Rain and Wind

Hard rain driven sideways by the wind, a heavy swell and frequent strikes. The full storm, rendered in real time over an open ocean.

A working storm. Rain comes down hard enough to grow a low-mid roar, the wind pushes it off vertical, and the swell has real weight under it.

Wind here is not a fixed setting. Direction and strength drift on their own through several slow cycles, so gusts arrive irregularly, the rain leans with them, and the sound of the wind moves across the stereo image as a gust crosses you.

The water is a sum of Gerstner waves rather than a scrolling texture, which is what lets crests sharpen and peak the way real swell does instead of staying rounded. Spray is emitted where the wave function says the crests are.

Every control stays adjustable once the scene has loaded, and the live-weather toggle hands it back to drifting on its own.
